The School of Education (SOE) at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro invites applications for the position of Associate Dean of Research. The successful applicant will join a diverse, active research community to: (a) provide leadership and organizational support for the Office of Research, (b) facilitate support for all forms of scholarly work in the SOE, (c) plan, manage, and grow external funding to support scholarly work, and (d) recognize and strategically disseminate scholarly work conducted in the SOE. This individual will advance research collaborations and engagement within the SOE, across the university, and with local, state, national, and international organizations, nurturing environments that promote research at the interface of different disciplines. The Associate Dean of Research will identify new research opportunities that have potential for significant growth, liaise with Departments within and outside of the SOE on associated grant and contract submissions, and prepare the SOE faculty case for University investment in additional resources required to grow the School’s research capacity and increase its reach and impact. We seek an entrepreneurial individual who has the vision and expertise to maximize opportunities for innovative research and can strengthen the SOE’s research support infrastructure to ensure that effective and efficient administrative procedures and policies related to research are established and maintained. This individual will have the opportunity to maintain her or his own research program while also serving as a research mentor to faculty members who seek guidance.
Qualifications
An earned doctorate from an accredited institution in one of the disciplines in the SOE or a related field; Demonstrated record of scholarship that merits a tenured faculty appointment as an associate or full professor in one SOE Department; A commitment to social justice and serving diverse communities; Demonstrated systems thinker and problem solver with excellent written, interpersonal, and oral communication skills; Evidence of an established record of grant-funding and successful research mentorship; Demonstrated experience with budget management and supervising professional staff; Values multiple types of research paradigms, varied methodologies, and community-engaged scholarship.
Preferred Qualifications
Successful experience in an academic administrative position; experience designing and leading interdisciplinary research initiatives, building research management policy, and infrastructure; Established record of successfully growing a research and/or organizational unit; Knowledge of a wide-range of funding opportunities, including evidence of securing federally-funded projects and connecting with foundations and other external entities.
Context
The University is located in Greensboro, a city of over 282,000 in a metropolitan area of 1.6 million people. The University has the most diverse student population in the UNC system, with more than 19,000 full-time students, including 3,000 graduate students. UNCG is Carnegie-designated as an R2 Doctoral University with higher research activity. The School of Education currently has 39 active awards totaling $3.4 million, with an average award total of $3.2 million per year over the past three years. Proposal submission activity has averaged 37 proposals per year over the past three years.

U.Va. faculty positions for 2017

The Curry School of Education, Department of Curriculum, Instruction, and Special Education at the University of Virginia is seeking applications for multiple tenure-track and tenured positions in the Department of Curriculum, Instruction and Special Education in the area of Special Education. Rank is dependent upon qualifications. Areas of interest include: assessment, applied behavior analysis, response to intervention, instructional strategies in academic domains or behavior management. Faculty member(s) collaborate with program and department faculty developing and implementing teacher preparation programs and designing and delivering doctoral preparation. Other duties include mentoring doctoral students’ research and dissertation activities; advising undergraduate and graduate students on courses of study; and supervising graduate students’ practica and related learning activities. Incumbents are expected to design and conduct rigorous research, working with interdisciplinary faculty across the school and the University, and to be successful in seeking extramural research funding. Finally, faculty partner with local, state, national, and international organizations to formulate and secure appropriate policies and services for individuals with disabilities and their families, as well as service providers.

A Ph.D. in special education or a related field is required by the start-date of the appointment. Knowledge of experimental research methods (group contrast or single-subject or both) is essential, as is the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues. Experience working with children with autism or high-incidence disabilities including learning disabilities, emotional and behavioral disorders, or mild to moderate intellectual disabilities is preferred. Experience working with schools and school districts developing and implementing academic or behavioral programs is also preferred. At least three years of classroom experience teaching special education at the K-12 level is preferred, as is an outstanding teaching record at the post-secondary level. Preference will be given to candidates who have expertise in working at the primary and elementary (K-8) levels and who are eligible for licensure as a teacher in Virginia or another state.

For a tenure-track appointment, potential to obtain extramural funding for experimental or other causal-inference research in the areas of interest outlined above, including an already establish publication record is required.

For appointment as Associate or Full Professor without term the applicant must have an established national reputation, a documented line of research related to the areas of interest outlined above and a track record of existing and sustained extramural funding.

U.Va. autism position

The University of Virginia’s Curry School of Education will hire a senior scholar with expertise in autism. The position, to be filled at the rank of associate professor or professor, will affiliate either with the faculty in special education (Curriculum, Instruction, and Special Education) or clinical and school psychology (Human Services). U.C. Davis assistant or associate professor position

Assistant or Associate Professor in Early Childhood Education, UC Davis School of Education, Starting July, 1, 2016.

The School of Education (SOE) at the University of California, Davis, seeks an innovative scholar with expertise in Early Childhood Education (preschool to third grade). The SOE is especially interested in scholars with expertise in quantitative experimental research related to advancing education for children who are considered at risk for poor elementary and secondary school outcomes. Scholars interested in working with diverse populations of students, including young English language learners (ELL) and young children with developmental delays or disabilities, are encouraged to apply.
