			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The College of Education at the University of Washington (UW) seeks a "professor of practice" to lead programs that prepare and support educational leaders at school and district level, in support of powerful, equitable student  learning and related system change. The role combines program leadership, program development,  teaching, and practice-focused scholarship. The position has full voting rights and will participate,  alongside tenure-line faculty, in the College’s efforts to improve the quality of practice through  regular engagement with the field. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or Ed.D in education or related field; substantial P-12 administrative  experience, preferably at both the school building and system level; and demonstrated ability to  guide and support the professional learning of educational leaders. This position will be hired at the non-tenure rank of Senior  Lecturer  or Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor without tenure. </p>

<p>The Department of Specialized Education Services, School of Education, University of North Carolina at Greensboro announces the availability of an open-rank, tenure-track position in Special Education in the area of high incidence disabilities.  Strong applicants will have a well-established record of research, a history of securing external funding and excellence in graduate level teaching and advising or strong potential for success in these areas.</p>
<p><strong> Qualifications: </strong>Applicants should: (1) have a doctorate in<strong> </strong>special education with an emphasis in high incidence disabilities; (2) have a strong record of research and grant-writing (or show strong potential) with preference for expertise in literacy; (3) have at least three years of teaching experience with students with disabilities in K-12 environments; <span id="more-1046"></span>(4) have a record of or show potential for doctoral-level teaching and advising; and (5) be committed to field-based and collaborative teacher preparation. Applicants seeking appointment at the Associate or Full level must meet UNCG criteria for tenure.</p>
<p><strong> Responsibilities</strong>:</p>

<li>Meet expectations for research, including grant writing, appropriate for a doctoral institution.</li>

<p><strong>Context:</strong> The Department of Specialized Education Services is housed within the School of Education at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. UNCG is part of the University of North Carolina, 16-campus system and it enrolls nearly 18,500 students, including 3,600 graduate students. UNCG is classified as a high research activity university with a community engagement distinction by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching.</p>
<p>The Department of Specialized Education Services offers NCATE accredited teacher education programs in Special Education at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Bachelor's degrees are offered in Professions in Deafness; Special Education: General Curriculum; and dual majors in Special Education and Elementary Education. Undergraduate degrees in early childhood are co-coordinated and implemented with the Department of Human Development and Family Studies. Two M.Ed. programs are offered: Special Education: General Curriculum and Birth-Kindergarten: Interdisciplinary Studies in Education and Development (a collaborative program offered with the Department of Human Development and Family Studies). A Ph.D. program in Specialized Education is also offered.</p>

<p>Early Childhood Special Education Clinical Faculty Position</p>
<p align="left">Position/Rank: The Department of Specialized Education Services at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro is seeking a collaborative leader and instructor in the field of early childhood special education (Birth-Kindergarten) to fill a non-tenure track position as Clinical Faculty at the Assistant level. This is a nine month/year position. Date of appointment will be August 1, 2012.</p>
<p align="left">Qualifications: Earned doctorate in Early Childhood Special Education or related field is required, college teaching (especially online teaching), public school teaching, and administrative experience preferred. Salary is commensurate with qualifications.</p>

<p align="left">Responsibilities: Teach courses in the interdisciplinary Birth-Kindergarten Education undergraduate and graduate programs. Some team teaching with faculty in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies and online course instruction is required. The <em>Linking Important Networks of Knowledge to Lead (LINK-2-LEAD) Special Education Teacher Education Research </em>project is a partnership between UNCG, the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL), the School of Education Teacher Academy’s Project ENRICH, and school districts in two counties (i.e., Forsyth and Guilford). 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Department of Educational Psychology, College of Education and Human Development, University of Minnesota seeks a new faculty member to contribute to the research, teaching, and service in the area of Special Education, with an emphasis in Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE). The College of Education and Human Development includes departments with strong programs in education, child psychology, family social science, social work, and others. The new faculty member will have the opportunity to participate in and provide leadership to the development of graduate studies and professional development in the area of early intervention, with broad interdisciplinary attention across psychosocial, neurobiological, behavioral, educational, and public policy related issues regarding growth and development. <p>Specific responsibilities of the individual(s) hired include, but are not limited to: </p>
<p>Research: Develop and maintain a strong record of scholarship with a focus on research related to infants and young children (birth-5) with special needs, based on a problem solving model. Applicants should be committed to securing external funds in support of their scholarly inquiry. </p>
<p>Teaching: Provide professional development and advanced instruction in graduate-level courses. These courses will build on the individual's areas of expertise, professional development, teacher education and research. Provide leadership in Early Childhood Special Education teacher licensure. Advise graduate students in Special Education and serve on graduate committees for students in other areas of the department and college, as well as provide consultation to other faculty members across the college. </p>
<p>Service: This person is expected to make strong contributions to the ongoing activities of the program, the department, the college, the University and the community. Participate in department, college, University, and other outreach and public engagement activities, including service on internal committees or task forces, making presentations to external constituencies. Participation in the activities of relevant professional organizations is expected.<br />
Minimum qualifications: </p>
<ul>
<li>An earned doctorate in educational psychology, psychology, special education or a related field with an emphasis in early childhood special education. </li>
<li>Research background in early childhood special education, based on a problem solving approach.</li>
<li>Evidence of research productivity in the form of research papers, peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations. </li>
<li>Evidence of successful activity related to securing external research funding. </li>
<li>Commitment to working across disciplines and within a multicultural context. </li>
<li>Classroom teaching experience in special education.</li>
</ul>
<p>Preferred qualifications: </p>
<ul>
<li>Research or training background in autism.</li>
<li>Evidence of excellence in higher education teaching and student advising experience at the graduate level. </li>
<li>Record of forming community/school collaborations and public engagement activities. </li>
<li>Evidence of potential leadership in teacher development.</li>
<li>Eligibility for MN teacher licensure in Special Education. </li>

<p>Appointment Details: The individual hired will be appointed into a full-time, academic year (9-month) tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Tenure-track, Open Rank, Special Education/High Incidence Disabilities</strong> </p>
<p>The Department of Educational Psychology and Special Education at Georgia State University is seeking doctoral-degreed, tenure-track faculty applicants with a thorough knowledge of high incidence disabilities. Desired applicants will have a recognized high-quality, rigorous and independent research focus, as well as documented excellence in and commitment to graduate/doctoral level instruction and mentoring.<br />

<strong>Qualifications</strong>:  Qualified applicants need to demonstrate their ability, or potential, to remain actively engaged in academic research, teaching, and service. Specifically, applicants should demonstrate active current and future research agendas, with evidence of or emerging potential for, securing external funding and dissemination of their research and scholarly work through high-impact publications and presentations. Applicants also should demonstrate active involvement in PK-12 settings with students with high incidence disabilities (or comparable experiences). Finally, applicants should demonstrate active participation within their field on national and local levels and within the academic setting (e.g., Department, College, or University level).</p>
<p><strong>Responsibilities</strong>:  Applicants will be expected to maintain a high professional profile through research and scholarly leadership, teach at the graduate level, provide service to the community, and to recruit graduate students of high caliber.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The University of Mary Washington (UMW) has a new tenture-track position for an Assistant Professor of Special Education with employment beginning with the fall term of 2012. The search closes 28 November 2011, so applicants who are interested should proceed expeditiously.</p>
<p>The successful applicant, who should have completed a doctorate by August of 2012, will join a faculty in Department of Foundation, Leadership, and Special Populations. The College of Education focuses on preparing teachers who can address diverse learning needs, including disability, in education.</p>
<p>UMW, which is named after George Washington's Mother, is a small, state-supported, co-educational institution situated approximately halfway between Richmond (VA) and Washington (DC). It has a wide variety of graduate and undergraduate programs, is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and is routinely listed by college guides as providing exceptional value for students.</p>

<p>The Department of Special Education seeks a full-time nine-month tenured or tenure-track faculty member who has expertise in the areas of math, science, and/or technology (STEM) <em>and</em> high or low incidence disabilities. <p><strong>Position responsibilities:</strong> The successful applicant will have expertise in preparing educators to differentiate STEM instruction for diverse students in inclusive environments. She/he will be expected to demonstrate content expertise in one of the STEM areas as well as have an established program of or progress towards developing a program of interdisciplinary research, and a strong record of or potential for publication and external funding, commensurate with rank. Applicants must have interest and skills in teaching in the teacher preparation program and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students; and an ability to work collaboratively with professionals and practitioners across the campus and community. This faculty member will contribute to a tradition of research, teaching, personnel preparation, and service in a setting with excellent opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration.</p>
<p><strong>Qualifications</strong>:  Candidates must hold an earned doctoral degree in special education or a related field, and evidence of STEM expertise in educational research and teaching.  The successful applicant will have excellent oral and written communication skills, and a minimum of two years of successful experience as a professional in special education or related field.  T he candidate for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of assistant professor will have established a clear trajectory for a program of significant research with potential to attract external funding, while the successful candidate for a tenured position will have a track record of sustained productivity in a significant program of research, and demonstrated success in securing external funding, commensurate with rank at either associate or full professor.</p>
<p><strong>Salary and Starting Date</strong>: Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience. The proposed starting date is August 16, 2012.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Villanova University’s Department of Education and Counseling invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position effective Fall 2012.  The Department seeks a teacher-scholar for a full-time, nine-month, Special Education position.</p>
<p>Villanova is a Catholic university sponsored by the Augustinian Order. Villanova seeks a diverse faculty committed to scholarship, service, and teaching, who understand, respect, and can contribute to the University’s mission and values.</p>
<p>Roles and Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be qualified to teach courses in special education at the undergraduate and at the graduate level, teaching five courses each year. In addition, the new faculty member will conduct and publish research in an area of expertise, serve as an academic advisor for education majors, and be an active member of both the Department, and the Villanova community.</p>
<p>Qualifications: Successful candidates must have a PhD in Education or a closely aligned discipline, or be near the completion of their doctoral degree. Specific knowledge of Special Education at the secondary K-12 level is required. Knowledge of Special Education law, US federal mandates, RTI, IEPs, and section 504 of the ADA is highly preferred.</p>
