			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Curry School of Education, Department of Human Services at the University of Virginia, invites applications for an Assistant Professor with the specialization in autism and related autism spectrum disorders, beginning August 25, 2012. This appointment is a twelve (12) month joint appointment in the Communication Disorders Program, Department of Human Services and the Special Education Program, Department of Curriculum Instruction and Special Education. This position is for a 3-year non-tenure track appointment with the opportunity for renewal upon satisfactory performance during the incumbent&#8217;s third year review process. </p>
<p>Candidates must hold a clinical or research doctorate; ASHA certification, and be eligible for Virginia license in Speech-Language Pathology. ABD candidates will be considered, however, degree confirmation is needed prior to the hire date of this appointment. </p>
<p>The successful candidate will integrate and lead educational and clinical enterprises within the Curry School of Education centering on autism and related autism spectrum disorders. Responsibilities include teaching a language-disorders course and a course on integrated multidisciplinary interventions in school-based settings. Responsibilities also include (a) supervising services provided to clients in the Sheilah C. Johnson Center for Human Services and (b) developing outreach collaborations with service providers and schools in the community to formulate comprehensive plans of care across a broad spectrum of clinical pictures: early intervention to college-student support at all levels of severity. The general faculty member will participate in and facilitate interdisciplinary research programs with latitude to develop research programs as background and career goals allow. </p>

<p>The George Mason University, Division of Special Education and disAbility Research in the College of Education and Human Development is seeking a tenure-line faculty member whose responsibilities will include collaborating with a group of nationally prominent scholars in special education and human disabilities; teaching and advising at the master’s and doctoral levels; and conducting and disseminating research, and securing external funding.</p>
<p>Candidate experience should fit with one or more of our current programs, which are in the areas of mild disabilities, severe and intellectual disabilities, autism and ABA, vision impairments, assistive technology, and special education leadership. An earned doctorate in special education or a related field, and two years of experience working with children and youth with disabilities required. Preferred qualifications include an established funded research portfolio or a promising (fundable) research agenda, and experience in university teaching including distance education implementation. <p><strong> Qualifications: </strong>Applicants should: (1) have a doctorate in<strong> </strong>special education with an emphasis in high incidence disabilities; (2) have a strong record of research and grant-writing (or show strong potential) with preference for expertise in literacy; (3) have at least three years of teaching experience with students with disabilities in K-12 environments; <span id="more-1046"></span>(4) have a record of or show potential for doctoral-level teaching and advising; and (5) be committed to field-based and collaborative teacher preparation. <p>Early Childhood Special Education Clinical Faculty Position</p>
<p align="left">Position/Rank: The Department of Specialized Education Services at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro is seeking a collaborative leader and instructor in the field of early childhood special education (Birth-Kindergarten) to fill a non-tenure track position as Clinical Faculty at the Assistant level. This is a nine month/year position. Date of appointment will be August 1, 2012.</p>
<p align="left">Qualifications: Earned doctorate in Early Childhood Special Education or related field is required, college teaching (especially online teaching), public school teaching, and administrative experience preferred. Salary is commensurate with qualifications.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Department of Educational Psychology, College of Education and Human Development, University of Minnesota seeks a new faculty member to contribute to the research, teaching, and service in the area of Special Education, with an emphasis in Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE). The College of Education and Human Development includes departments with strong programs in education, child psychology, family social science, social work, and others. The new faculty member will have the opportunity to participate in and provide leadership to the development of graduate studies and professional development in the area of early intervention, with broad interdisciplinary attention across psychosocial, neurobiological, behavioral, educational, and public policy related issues regarding growth and development. This is a full-time, tenure-track position in a highly regarded college of a major urban research university with a start date of August 27, 2012.<br />

<p>Specific responsibilities of the individual(s) hired include, but are not limited to: </p>
<p>Research: Develop and maintain a strong record of scholarship with a focus on research related to infants and young children (birth-5) with special needs, based on a problem solving model. Applicants should be committed to securing external funds in support of their scholarly inquiry. </p>
<p>Teaching: Provide professional development and advanced instruction in graduate-level courses. These courses will build on the individual&#8217;s areas of expertise, professional development, teacher education and research. Provide leadership in Early Childhood Special Education teacher licensure. Advise graduate students in Special Education and serve on graduate committees for students in other areas of the department and college, as well as provide consultation to other faculty members across the college. </p>
<p>Service: This person is expected to make strong contributions to the ongoing activities of the program, the department, the college, the University and the community. Participate in department, college, University, and other outreach and public engagement activities, including service on internal committees or task forces, making presentations to external constituencies. Participation in the activities of relevant professional organizations is expected.<br />
Minimum qualifications: </p>
<ul>
<li>An earned doctorate in educational psychology, psychology, special education or a related field with an emphasis in early childhood special education. </li>
<li>Research background in early childhood special education, based on a problem solving approach.</li>
<li>Evidence of research productivity in the form of research papers, peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations. </li>
<li>Evidence of successful activity related to securing external research funding. </li>
<li>Commitment to working across disciplines and within a multicultural context. </li>
<li>Classroom teaching experience in special education.</li>
</ul>
<p>Preferred qualifications: </p>
<ul>
<li>Research or training background in autism.</li>
<li>Evidence of excellence in higher education teaching and student advising experience at the graduate level. </li>
<li>Record of forming community/school collaborations and public engagement activities. </li>
<li>Evidence of potential leadership in teacher development.</li>
<li>Eligibility for MN teacher licensure in Special Education. </li>
</ul>
<p>Appointment Details: The individual hired will be appointed into a full-time, academic year (9-month) tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. The anticipated starting date for this appointment is August 27, 2012 and the salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. </p>

<p>The Department of Educational Psychology and Special Education at Georgia State University is seeking doctoral-degreed, tenure-track faculty applicants with a thorough knowledge of high incidence disabilities. <strong>Qualifications</strong>:  Qualified applicants need to demonstrate their ability, or potential, to remain actively engaged in academic research, teaching, and service. Specifically, applicants should demonstrate active current and future research agendas, with evidence of or emerging potential for, securing external funding and dissemination of their research and scholarly work through high-impact publications and presentations. Applicants also should demonstrate active involvement in PK-12 settings with students with high incidence disabilities (or comparable experiences). Finally, applicants should demonstrate active participation within their field on national and local levels and within the academic setting (e.g., Department, College, or University level).</p>
<p><strong>Responsibilities</strong>:  Applicants will be expected to maintain a high professional profile through research and scholarly leadership, teach at the graduate level, provide service to the community, and to recruit graduate students of high caliber.</p>
