Our Faculty has a strong undergraduate program across early childhood, primary and secondary education, and growing numbers of candidates undertaking study by course work and research at the post-graduate level in the area of special and inclusive education.
As the Lecturer in Special and Inclusive Education you will:
- teach within the Bachelor of Education, Masters of Teaching and Masters of Education (Special Education) programs in the Faculty
- supervise professional experience in schools
- engage in the supervision of students undertaking research projects within their degrees
- actively contribute to the ongoing development of the research profile of the Faculty
- contribute to academic administration and the Faculty’s expanding program of school and professional collaboration
To be successful in this role you will have:
- a completed or near complete doctorate in special and inclusive education
- a strong background in the philosophies, policies, laws and practices underlying the education of students with special educational needs across all education sectors and settings
- evidence of recent superior practice in teaching and working with students with special education needs
- a strong understanding of the teaching of core special and inclusive education topics at undergraduate level, with some university teaching experience
- specialised skills and knowledge in the areas of assessment and evaluation or quality teaching and learning for students with special education needs
- a research program in special and inclusive education
- demonstrated team work skills
- active engagement in the special and inclusive education professional community
Desirable for appointment is your:
- previous publications in peer reviewed journals
- professional supervision experience
- experience supervising research degree students
- understanding of the use of ICT in a university environment
- ability to assist in developing and delivering professional learning programs in schools
- understanding of education sectors and their practices in New South Wales
- evidence of teaching across other areas of teacher education other than special and inclusive education.
