The Department of Educational, School and Counseling Psychology (ESCP) in the College of Education at the University of Missouri (MU) announces a new open rank, tenure-line position in the area of School Psychology, to start Fall Semester 2011. Our preference is to hire at the associate or full level, but serious consideration will be given to established scholars at the rank of assistant professor, whose qualifications and achievements are particularly well matched to our needs. This position is an additional faculty line, representing a significant investment in this growing School Psychology program.
Position Description:
The APA-accredited school psychology training program emphasizes a scientist practitioner model of training with a focus on prevention and public health perspectives. We offer both the Ed.S. and Ph.D. terminal degree options. The successful candidate will join a vibrant team of 4 core faculty and 2 affiliated clinical faculty. The successful candidate will have a strong research agenda with a clear academic, social-emotional, or behavioral focus. The program is affiliated with the Missouri Prevention Center and the Assessment and Consultation Clinic. In addition, the College and University faculty and resources provide many opportunities for collaboration.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct an active, externally funded program of research and scholarship
- Teach graduate courses related to school psychology, consistent with program and departmental instructional needs
- Advise and provide research supervision to graduate students in the school psychology program, and serve on dissertation committees for other students within the department
- Provide staff development and technical assistance to local and state agencies, helping to build the fields of school psychology and education
- Provide leadership to the program, department and college
Minimum Qualifications:
- An earned doctorate in School Psychology or a related field
- Commitment to a scientist-practitioner model of training and practice
- A distinguished record of scholarly productivity commensurate with level of experience
- Commitment to obtaining external funding
- Ability to work in multicultural settings with diverse populations
Desired Qualifications:
- Success as a principal investigator or co-investigator on a federally funded project.
- Licensure or license-eligible in the state of Missouri
Salary: Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The Department of Educational, School and Counseling Psychology features doctoral programs in School Psychology and Counseling Psychology (both APA-accredited) and in Educational Psychology and Health Education. The department offers master’s and specialist degree programs in Educational Psychology, School Psychology, Health Education, Counseling Psychology, School Counseling, and Career Counseling, and has online master’s degree programs. The department has 28 faculty members and six staff in addition to approximately 250 graduate students. Three departmental centers enhance the mission of the College and University: the Missouri Prevention Center, the Assessment and Consultation Clinic; and the Coalition for Multicultural Competence.
