The Department of Educational Psychology (EPSY) at Texas A&M University (TAMU) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Special Education. We seek an individual with outstanding accomplishments in or the potential to advance special education and community services for children and youth. Areas of expertise may include, but are not limited to, autism or low-incidence disabilities.
The Special Education program is part of a vibrant, cutting-edge department that as a result of university and college investment has successfully recruited nine new tenured and tenure-track special education faculty since 2004. The Special Education program is ranked in the top 20 nationally in the latest U.S. News and World Report and has a goal of moving in to the top 10. We prepare undergraduate, master’s, and Ph.D. students to improve the quality of education and community services and the lives of children, youth, and adults with disabilities and their families. The program currently directs federally funded master’s and doctoral preparation programs. Faculty research interests span from preschool/kindergarten to post-secondary education related to risk and disability.
We strongly encourage applicants whose scholarship area complements those of program faculty and who are interested in fostering program excellence through:
• growing and maintaining success in external funding for research and outreach
• developing and delivering innovative programs [including funded personnel preparation]
• recruiting and advising high-quality graduate students
• mentoring junior faculty [associate/full professors]
