Assistant Professor of Education (Special Education)

The growing Special Education Learning Disabilities Program in the Spadoni College of Education at Coastal Carolina University announces a full-time tenure track position beginning August, 2007.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in special education such as educational assessment, methods in mathematics and reading for students with learning disabilities, and other courses based on candidate expertise; advise undergraduate students; supervise field based experiences; implement accreditation procedures using computerized performance based assessments; curriculum development; provide service to the community, university, and profession; and have an established or very promising research funding/publication record.

QUALIFICATIONS: Earned Doctorate in Special Education or a related field with an emphasis on learning disabilities; three years experience working with school age children with learning disabilities, some of which must be teaching in public schools K-12; experience in educational assessment and qualified to interpret psychological tests; knowledge of current instructional methodology, research, and issues in learning disabilities; ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing; evidence of scholarly productivity; and excellence in teaching.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in university teaching, alignment of curriculum with state and national standards, distance or online education, and assistive and/or instructional technology.
