The faculty of the College of Education at California State University, Dominguez Hills invites applications from individuals for this tenure-track position. The successful applicant will provide leadership in the development of a new Ed. D. program in Educational Leadership to be implemented in 2009. The college offers a Master of Arts degree and innovative Preliminary and Professional Administrative Credential programs. The educational administration programs typically enroll more than 150 educators from many Southern California school districts and are expanding in size and scope. The educational programs in the College of Education are accredited by NCATE and the California Committee on Accreditation.
Position
Responsibilities include teaching graduate courses, providing leadership in work with colleagues to plan and implement the Educational Leadership Ed.D. program; advising graduate students; chairing and serving on dissertation committees; conducting relevant research and writing in the area of urban educational leadership; facilitating collaboration with partner institutions; and serving as an integral member of the faculty in the College of Education.
Required Qualifications
• Earned doctorate in educational leadership or a related field from an accredited university.
• Demonstrated ability to work with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community, schools, and community organizations.
• Understanding of urban education and commitment to the preparation of educational leaders to meet the needs of the diverse populations of Southern California.
• Established record of successful teaching, scholarship and service to the profession and the community.
• Expertise in some of the following areas: standards-based reforms; research-based curricular and instructional interventions; organizational theory; historical, philosophical and sociological foundations; research design and methods; and/or instructional leadership.
Desired Qualifications
Possession of an administrative credential or its equivalent; experience teaching in standards-based professional preparation programs related to educational leadership; experience in program planning and evaluation; and experience in technology mediated and distance learning.
Rank and Salary
This is an academic year tenure track position at the rank of assistant, associate or full professor. Salary is competitive and commensurate to rank, experience, and qualifications. Periodic salary adjustments are enacted by the state legislature. Additional teaching in summer and intersession may be available.
