Associate/Full Professor

The faculty of the College of Education at California State University, Dominguez Hills invites applications from individuals for this tenure track position. The newly established department offers an undergraduate, interdisciplinary degree that provides more than 1300 students with a state-approved academic preparation program for elementary and special education teaching credentials. The department also offers an integrated degree and teaching credential program through which students may complete much of their multiple subject (elementary) teaching credential as part of their B.A. degree in Liberal Studies. The educational programs in the College of Education are accredited by NCATE and the California Committee on Accreditation.

Position
Responsibilities include liberal studies or teacher credential course instruction; overall administration of the program; recruitment and retention activities; collaboration with participating academic departments and local community colleges in curriculum development and articulation; program budget and resource management; and representation of the department in college, university, and CSU statewide groups.

Required Qualifications
• Earned doctorate from an accredited university in a discipline represented in the Liberal Studies program or in teacher education.
• Demonstrated ability to work with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community, school system and community organizations.
• Significant experience and demonstrated excellence in teaching.
• Record of scholarly activities and professional service.
• Understanding of interdisciplinary, liberal studies programs.
• Knowledge of teacher preparation and credentialing.
• Evidence of leadership and administrative ability in higher education.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Desired Qualifications
Knowledge of and experience with technology mediated and distance learning, possession of a teaching credential, and public school teaching experience.

Rank and Salary:
This is a 12 month tenure tack position at the rank of associate or full professor. Salary is competitive and commensurate to rank, experience, and qualifications.
