We have two positions open at the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire–one
in early childhood special education and one with a focus on high-incidence
disabilities. Both are at the rank of Assistant Profession. A doctorate in
special education or related field by August 20, 2007 is preferred, however
ABD will be considered.
Early Childhood Special Education
This position requires coordination of teacher education undergraduate,
graduate and continuing education in ECSE and involves teaching, advising,
supervising, research and/or grant writing activity and participation in
faculty governance activities. Applicants will be expected to teach courses
as assigned in the Department of Special Education; participate in research
and scholarly activities; provide academic advising to students as assigned;
engage in service to the university and community; and participate in
department, college, and university committee work. Salary will be
commensurate with teaching experience. The Department is very collegial and
values collaboration and diversity. Summer employment is a possibility
High-Incidence Disabilities
This position requires graduate studies in special education or teaching
certification in an area of special education; a minimum of three years of
pre-K-12 teaching experience with students with high-incidence disabilities
is preferred; knowledge and skills in formal and informal assessment, IEPs,
and academic interventions for students with mild disabilities; interest and
expertise in inclusive practice; successful experience using evidence-based
instructional practices with students at risk for academic failure including
students with disabilities; interest in or willingness to learn to use
distance education; willingness to secure third-party funds. May be
considered an asset: teaching experience at the elementary level.
