RESPONSIBILITIES
The Department of Special Education invites applications for an Assistant
Professor, ELL/Special Education. This is a full time, 9-month, assistant
level tenure track position available Fall 2007. A primary responsibility is
coordinating the English as a Second Language endorsement classes in
collaboration with other units within the College of Education and
surrounding school districts. Other responsibilities include maintaining a
continuous record of scholarly productivity, including procurement of
external funds; teaching courses in the Department of Special Education;
supervising and advising special education students; and engaging in
professional service.
QUALIFICATIONS
Las Vegas is the fastest growing metropolitan area in the United States with
a rapidly growing culturally and linguistically diverse population. The
Department of Special Education seeks a colleague with experience in working
with linguistically and culturally diverse populations with disabilities.
Applicants must possess an earned doctorate in the field of special
education or bilingual/multicultural education with a background in special
education. Applicants must demonstrate a record of or the potential for a
strong record of scholarly activity. Classroom teaching experience in K-12
with students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds is
highly desirable.
SALARY RANGE
Salary competitive; contingent on labor market. Position is contingent upon
funding
