POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT:

SPECIAL EDUCATION, DISABILITY, AND RISK STUDIES

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR

The Department of Education in the Gevirtz Graduate School of Education at the University of California, Santa Barbara, is seeking to fill a tenure-track assistant professor position, effective July 1, 2007, in the area of Special Education, Disability and Risk Studies (SPEDR). Applicants should have (a) a relevant doctoral degree, (b) expertise and research experience with a focus on applications in mild/moderate disabilities, (c) a record of publication and/or experience with grant applications; and (d) demonstrated excellence in teaching. Expected duties include: carrying out a program of research and teaching with the expectation of extramural funding, recruiting and advising of doctoral students, supporting a program of school-based research, and contributing to the development of a mild/moderate credential program. Desirable additional qualifications include experience in public school teaching and/or teacher education. The UCSB SPEDR program is part of a University of California-wide Center for Special Education Research, based at UCSB and involving faculty from all UC campuses.

Applicants should send a letter of application, current vita, two representative publications, and three letters of reference to: Robert Koegel, Chair, Special Education, Disability and Risk Studies Search Committee, Department of Education, University of California, Santa Barbara, CA 93106-9490. Review of applications will begin December 15, 2006, and will continue until the position is filled.
