The Department of Special Education at Illinois State University invites
applications for a tenure-track faculty position to be filled at the rank of
Assistant or Associate Professor. The Department serves approximately 900
students in undergraduate (teacher preparation programs include a
multicategorical sequence, a deaf and hard of hearing sequence, and a low
vision/blindness sequence) and graduate (master’s and doctoral) programs.

Position: This nine-month position, with potential opportunities for summer
employment, has a preferred start date of August 16, 2007. Responsibilities
include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses; supervising
theses/dissertations; maintaining an active research agenda; and providing
university and professional service.

Qualifications: Applicants must hold an earned doctorate in special
education or a related area. (ABD considered). Priority will be given to
applicants who have university teaching experience, an active research
agenda, and experience teaching or providing direct service to individuals
with disabilities. Candidates with expertise in one or more of the following
areas are strongly encouraged to apply: deaf and hard of hearing; learning
disabilities; behavior disorders; methods for teaching content areas.
